Our First Sunday
The Lord has established His church and we glorified Him.
The Church Gathered
This Sunday was our very first Sunday as Coram Deo Baptist Church. It was extraordinary! We had 30-40 people show up in support of the church’s inaugural worship gathering. With the help of many hands, we pulled off a really successful Sunday gathering, last minute sound setup, worship was beautiful and sweet, recording went smooth, organization was on point (thanks Rachel). We even had our very own Linda on the street inviting pedestrians to come in. Our lirturgy (service order) went great despite being the first time I’ve run it and it’s differences from a typical contemporary service.
This Sunday was also remarkably ordinary. We heard, sang, and prayed the Word. We had coffee and cookies. We fellowshipped. It was so wholesomely ordinary. A community of God’s people loving God and loving each other. There was nothing particularly novel about our gathering and that was on purpose. Novelty is not what changes lives. The ordinary work of our living God through ordinary means of grace is what changes lives. I’ve worked hard to ensure we are not swept away by fads or marketing. I know those are a bill of goods. Even the excitement of the first Sunday will fade. That’s okay, that emotion isn’t what endures, stands the test of time when things get hard. Faith and hope in the continued sustaining power of God are what makes our community compelling.
It is God at work in us, together, that shores up our footing and warms our hearts. It sharpens our minds and steels our spines. It is the only thing of substance that we offer our community. By God’s grace that will never change.

Fun Fact: I just got our approval email that we are officially on Founders Church Finder. We’re part of the team now! Tom Ascol and I are having coffee later today (this is not true). Now we just gotta get on the IX Marks church finder and we’ll be in business!
SUNDAY SERMON
Our church began, fittingly, on the person of Christ as we began John 1:1-18. The most radical self-disclosure of God was when the Word became flesh.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Continue to pray that the Lord uses us as the church gathered and scattered to offer the Gospel of Life to the lost.
Pray for me to be given opportunities to meet with those in the community and continue to make Gospel connections.
